Isaiah 55:8-9: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Ten years ago, I was ready to submit my first novel, Delirious. It wasn’t published until a few years ago, but under a different title: No Easy Catch by Whitaker House Publishers. Readers didn’t realize that was the first book I ever completed.
Most will remember Guilty of Love as my breakout novel. Well, God had a vision then, and it continues today. I knew in my soul if I did not write that story, I wouldn’t be blessed with any other books that followed. Thirty something books later, I’m glad I was obedient.
Earlier this year, I felt my creative writing well had run dry. I had a plot for the next book in the Jamieson Legacy series, but not a message from God, so basically, I had nothing. Then Jesus spoke to me. He directed me to pull out the outline for the Caregivers series. Book I entitled the Mystery Woman I changed to Mystery of Love. I heard him say “Someone needs to hear My voice.”
Cool, okay, no problem. I got this. I thanked God and proceeded on my happy writing journey. After all, I’ve written 30 titles, no intimidation, right? Wrong. The project has been anything, but cool. It’s been extremely hard. I told my editor, Chandra Sparks Splond, that I feel like a kindergartener learning my ABC’s with this book. Why was it soooo hard to get the plot together?
Why? Because God’s standards exceed man’s. God reminded me this was His ministry and I was required to meet His standards. I have to get this right by any means necessary. I can’t push it aside until I feel like tackling it. I had to fast, pray, and press on, because I was the messenger. I don’t know who needs this book, but trust me, God’s timing is perfect. Look for it in 2018. Until then, you can join the WAIT LIST for Mystery of Love, Book 1 in The Caregivers series.
